I did not find a single cogent observation in this entire book. And the author's redundant and tiresome political yammering made the whole experience even worse. "Travels with Charlie" has always been on my list of top 10 favorite books, and I have read it many times over the years. So right off the bat, I knew this expose' might be upsetting. Really, the author put a lot of effort into disproving a great deal of Steinbeck's claims, but it struck me as mostly a dull and uninspired account. Steinbeck undoubtedly fabricated a good portion of his classic book, but his talent shown through in such a lovely, fun, interesting book; this book - not so much.
